China and ASEAN’s railway link starts operation

Beijing: The railway linking southwest China and the countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) started operation this weekend after seven years of construction.

The 141 km railway between Yuxi and Mengzi, with a designed maximum speed of 120 km per hour, is a part of the eastern line of the planned Pan-Asia Railway network, which also consists of the Kunming-Yuxi railway which has been in operation and Mengzi-Hekou railway which is scheduled to be put into operation by the end of next year.
