China changing shape of intra-Asia trades: Teo

Singapore: Intra-Asia trades are changing to emcompass all the way to east of Suez, says one of the sectors leading practioners. S S Teo, managing director of Singapore’s Pacific International Lines, told delegates attending yesterday’s Sea Asia conference, “China will put more emphasis to trade to South Asia, Southeast Asia and Africa,” something evidenced by Xi Jinping’s first few overseas trips as the new head of China.

“China is the centre of gravity for this trade, which brings a lot of challenges,” Teo said at the event co-organised by Seatrade and the Singapore Maritime Foundation.

“Intra-Asia trades require a lot of resilience,” said Teo.  [10/04/13]
