China helping build Yemeni infrastructure

Dubai: The Yemeni President, Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, has said that China has pledged to build power plants for electricity and will develop both ports of Aden and Mokha.
 
Hadi, after coming back to Sanaa from a visit to China, said: "In my meeting with the Chinese president, Xi Jinping, we agreed on the establishment of power stations and high-quality specifications in all technical aspects, using environmentally friendly gas, as well as coal. The operating rate of the power will reach five thousand megawatts."
 
He also said: "We also agreed on deepening the port of Aden from 16 meters to 18, and expanding it to more than a thousand meters, at a cost of $508 million, and also on deepening, expanding, and developing the Port of Mokha, as well as developing the airports of Aden and Taiz, and other projects."
 
The development of Aden port includes deepening and expanding the dock, and installing giant cranes and to boost the capacity of the port to 1.5m teu, in addition to building a storage yard for containers and services and a maintenance workshop.  [17/11/13]
