China’s largest inland port starts trials

Shanghai: China’s largest inland logistics port project, Chongqing Guoyuan Port, has started trial operation.

The RMB10bn project has a designed annual handing capacity of 30m tons. Currently it has put four berths into operation with another 12 berths starting operation by the end of this year.

According to Chongqing port, currently it is building a railway which will connect Guoyuan port to the Chongqing-Europe railway by 2014, and it will become an important gateway port on the Yangtze River to Europe and the largest inland intermodal port in China. [26/08/13]
