Cilamaya port plans in West Java scrapped

Jakarta: Plans for a port at Cilamaya in Karawang, West Java are likely to be amended, the Jakarta Post reports, with the government mulling switching the port construction to a site in Central Java. Part of the problem with the Cilamaya location was in the likely destruction of hundreds of hectares of rice paddy fields as well as the expense for energy firm Pertamina which would have had to relocate an offshore plant of the Cilamaya project had proceeded. The government is now looking at possible locations in Central Java.  [26/08/14]
