CMES orders four more VLCCs

Shanghai: Following the exercising of 4 VLCC options at DSIC and Waigaoqiao in early August, China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES) today announced that it has signed shipbuilding contracts for 4 more VLCCs at the two shipyards.

The two VLCCs which will be built at DSIC are scheduled for delivery at April and September of 2016, and the other two which will be built at Waigaoqiao are scheduled for delivery in July 2016 and January 2017.

CMES said the VLCCs will adopt an eco-friendly design and will save up to 20% in fuel consumption compared with the VLCCs currently in the fleet. [29/08/13]
