CSSC Chengxi confirms Nova Shipping woodchip carrier order

China’s CSSC Chengxi Shipyard has confirmed that it has secured a newbuilding contract from Singapore’s Nova Shipping for the construction of four 70,000 dwt woodchip carriers, a deal which Splash reported last month.

The contract also includes options for additional four vessels.

The new vessels are expected to become the largest woodchip carriers in the world in terms of capacity.

Nova Shipping currently operates a fleet of 13 woodchip carriers, and it also has four 34,500 dwt tankers under construction at Taizhou Sanfu Shipbuilding.
