DOF Subsea scores decommissioning contract from Ithaca Energy

Norway’s DOF Subsea has won a contract from Ithaca Energy for the first phase of the decommissioning of the Athena Field in the UK North Sea.

The contract will utilise several DOF Subsea vessels and involves the removal of mid-water arch and risers.

Robert Gillespie, MD of DOF UK, commented: “This is a very important project for us. Conditions in the industry are challenging, but the North Sea decommissioning sector is active and we are well positioned to deliver in this market. We have completed several decommissioning projects in recent years, and we are looking forward to working with Ithaca Energy on this scope.”

Ithaca ceased production from Athena in January and terminated the contract for BW’s FPSO BW Athena, which was demobilised in February 2016.
