DryShips pays $198.5m for four Economou ships

DryShips has revealed it has bought four ships from its chairman George Economou.

DryShips is paying $198.5m for three modern newcastlemax bulkers and a 2010-built coated aframax. The ships will join the DryShips fleet before the end of the year. They had previously been under Economou’s own companies, TMS Dry and TMS Tankers.

The diverse DryShips fleet already includes five newcastlemaxes and a pair of aframaxes.
