East Sunrise orders ten jack-ups at CSIC

Hong Kong: Hong Kong-based East Sunrise Group has signed with China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) for the construction of ten jack-up platforms. The total value of the contract is around RMB10bn.

The first platform will be delivered early 2016. The rest of the platforms will be delivered one by one within three months intervals.

East Sunrise mainly operates international shipping, ship chartering and offshore engineering businesses. It runs three subsidiaries in China including East Sunrise Shipping (Guangzhou), Guangzhou Shenzhou Shipping and Lianyungang Hengxing Shipbuilding.

According to Cheng Lixin, president of East Sunrise, the company is currently operating an offshore equipment chartering business, however, it hasn’t decided whether to lease out or sell the platforms in the future. [23/07/14]
