Fratelli Cosulich fixes LNG bunker vessel to Petronas

Italian owner Fratelli Cosulich has landed a charter deal with the trading arm of Malaysia’s Petronas for its second LNG bunker vessel newbuild.

The 8,200 cu m Paolina Cosulich, built by Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore and Engineering, will serve PETCO Trading Labuan Co (PTLCL) for two years.

PTLCL operates in key bunker hubs with a network in Southeast Asia, Japan, the Middle East and South Africa, and the 5,300 dwt vessel which can in addition to LNG provide 500 metric tons of marine gas oil, is expected to cater to the increasing demand for LNG bunkers in the Straits.

The Paolina Cosulich is the second of the two LNG bunkering units Fratelli Cosulich booked for construction at CIMC SOE. The first ship, Alice Cosulich, has been fixed to Dutch fuel supplier Titan.

Fratelli Cosulich also recently ordered its first methanol dual-fuelled 8,000 cu m chemical bunker tanker which will be able to carry both green methanol and biofuels. The vessel will be delivered in Singapore in the last quarter of 2025 under a charter contract with Trafigura and deployed to deliver bunkers for TFG Marine, Trafigura’s joint venture with John Fredriksen’s Frontline and Golden Ocean Group.
