Last week, Great Eastern Shipping revealed that it had expanded its fleet with an MR product tanker acquisition. Now broker sources reveal that the ship was bought from Ireland-based tanker firm Ardmore Shipping.
New York-listed Ardmore had earlier put out a statement that it had agreed to offload the 2010-built, 50,000 dwt Ardmore Seafarer for $27.1m, earning $10.4 m on the Onomichi Dockyard-built unit as it was picked up for $16.7m in July 2020.
After the purchase, the Indian buyer’s fleet stands at 43 vessels, comprising 28 tankers – six crude carriers, 18 product tankers, four LPG carriers – and 14 dry bulk carriers.
