Denmark’s Hafnia Tankers has completed a sale and leaseback with a Japanese private shipowning company for its 2010-built LR1 tanker Hafnia Australia.

Hafnia says the deal will have positive effect liquidity of around $8.7m, adding to an already strong cash position.

The vessel is being chartered back on a 12-year bareboat charter, and Hafnia will have purchase options annually from the fourth year onwards.

Hafnia says the deal has already been completed, and the vessel has been delivered to the Japanese owner.
