Hanjin’s Subic yard starts VLCC construction

Manila: Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction’s shipyard in Subic Bay in the Philippines will start building VLCCs for the first time. Navig8 has ordered four 300,000 dwt VLCCs there while another unspecified European owner has committed to build two more.

The 300,000 dwt newbuilding measures 333 m in length, 60 m in breadth with 30 m of height.

The ships will start delivering in the second half of 2016. Hanjin’s Subic yard is now busy through to 2017. Hanjin’s own yard in Busan is too small to handle ships of VLCC size.  [09/04/14]
