Hudong Zhonghua confirms Stolt-Nielsen tankers order

Shanghai: Hudong Zhonghua, a CSSC-affiliated shipyard in Shanghai, has confirmed that it has received an order of six chemical tankers from Norwegian owner Stolt-Nielsen.

An official from Hudong Zhonghua told SinoShip News, the shipyard has already concluded the deal of constructing six 38,000dwt chemical tankers, the first chemical tanker project for the yard.

The order comes after recent success for Hudong Zhonghua with orders for five Con-Ros for Atlantic Container Line in August and six LNG vessels for the APLNG transportation project of China Shipping and Sinopec in September.

More orders for the yard may follow: “We are also bidding to construct two 30,000 cbm LNG vessels for the BG-CNOOC project, with Jiangnan Shipyard and DSIC also bidding for the contract,” the official revealed. [09/11/12]
