Icon Offshore appoints Petronas executive as managing director

Malaysian offshore service provider Icon Offshore, has announced that it has appointed Amir Hamzah Azizan as the new managing director of the company, effective from March 1, 2016.

Amir is currently the ceo of Petronas Lubricants International and vice president of lubricants business at Petronas. He will take over the post of the current ceo Dr Jamal Yusof, who has decided not to extend his contract pursue his own business.

Icon added that its chief operations officer Rahman Yusof had also decided not to renew his contract and his role will be replaced by the current deputy ceo, Captain Hassan Ali. The company has also given Datuk Abdul Rahman Ahmad an executive role in the company. He is the currently the ceo of Ekuinas, the controlling shareholder of Icon Offshore.

“We welcome the appointment of Amir, who brings with him longstanding industry and international experience and a strong track record of value-creation through mergers and international expansion,” said the company’s chairman Raja Tan Sri Arshad Raja Tun Uda.
