Icon Offshore awarded major Petronas umbrella contract

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian offshore operator Icon Offshore has received a letter of award from Petronas Carigali for the provision of spot charter marine vessels under an umbrella contract.

The contract is for a period of two years with a one year option, and due to its diverse fleet Icon was awarded six of eight vessel types required by Petronas. Icon will provide anchor handling tug supply vessels, straight supply vessels, platform supply vessels, utility vessels, workboats and work barges.

Icon will provide the vessel, crew and associated equipment for a continuous 24-hour operation on demand within the contact period. The company has a fleet of 32 vessels at an average age of under five years, with seven additional vessels on order and five of those delivering during 2015.

Petra Energy announced last week that it has been selected by Petronas for a two year umbrella contract, also with a one year option, and primarily operates accommodation work barges and accommodation workboats.
