Kotug pens deal with Padmos for construction of electric pusher tugs

Offshore towage specialist Kotug International has signed a framework agreement with Padmos for the construction of the entire lineup of its fully electric pusher boats.

The electric pusher tugs, known as E-Pushers, have three models depending on size – the S, M, and L. The series sizes range from 9–22 meters in length, with a maximum depth of 0.85–1.35 meters, resulting in a draft 30% less than conventional pusher tug designs.

The swappable energy containers encompass stage V diesel, (bio)gas, hydrogen, and battery solutions. The vessels are also equipped to eliminate harmful emissions, including CO2, SOx, NOx, and particulate matter.

The framework agreement follows the successful commissioning of the groundbreaking M model named E-Pusher 1, also constructed by Padmos.

Since June 2023, E-Pusher 1 has been working for Cargill in the North Holland region, transporting cocoa beans from Amsterdam to Zaandam. According to Kotug, this fully electric pusher boat, with barges, reduces CO2 emissions by 190,000 kg per year, equivalent to 15,000 single truck trips covering the same distance.

“We are proud to build upon our cooperation with KOTUG in pioneering the construction of the E-Pusher lineup. [We] are excited about the transformative impact these vessels will have on the industry,” said Leon Padmos, CEO of Padmos.

  1. It’s just swapping out one style of pollution with another.

People don’t consider the E-pollution, electronic pollution.

Metals have to be mined, often nations are invaded then bombed and looted for the minerals rather than paying a fair price for the resources, toxic chemical processes to make the electronics, electromagnetic field pollution that is known to cause serious health issues, battery pollution in the manufacture and disposal of, the power grid to recharge all the vehicles be nuclear power radioactive waste or fossil fuel power etc.

All it really means is that the new E-pollution is not so obvious to the eye as the old fashioned coal smog is. EV’s is just an illusion of “clean” while the banks make a lot of money forcing yet another tech change on the world.

In the 1950’s the banks forced all industries, especially farms, to get rid of all their traditional working horses and replace them with diesel engines. Everything ran on petroleum by the early 1970’s.

Remember when you had to buy your entire music collection again because of CD’s but at 3 or 5 times the original release prices, the CD was even lower quality sound than the vinyl ! But hey, more petroleum sales for CD manufacturing.

Old Bankster scams, con men in sharp suits and a tie. Not all sharks swim in the sea.
