Kyoei Tanker taps Namura for a VLCC

Japan’s Kyoei Tanker has gone to Namura Shipbuilding to order a VLCC. The Japanese yard will deliver the 310,300 dwt tanker in the third quarter of 2019. Kyoei has one other VLCC on order, a 311,000 dwt under construction at Japan Marine United for delivery next year.

Namura has been busy heavily marketing its VLCC designs of late.

Kyoei’s current fleet comprises five VLCCs, five product tankers and six bulkers. It also has an LPG carrier due to deliver in the second quarter this year.
