Lars Christensen’s Epic appointment

Singapore: Epic Pantheon International Gas Shipping has bagged shipping industry veteran Lars Vang Christensen as its new ceo.

"Lars Christensen is a proven leader in the shipping industry and brings over 30 years of commercial and technical expertise to Epic," stated Seth Wilson, the chairman of Epic's board of directors and a managing director of Jefferies Capital Partners.

"Lars' breadth of experience as a successful senior executive in the maritime industry enhances our ability to provide safe, high quality LPG and petrochemical transportation services to our customers. We believe Lars is the perfect executive to lead Epic through our next phase of fleet growth."

Christensen has over 30 years of international shipping industry experience having joined Danish maritime conglomerate A.P. Moller – Maersk Group in 1979 both at sea and then ashore.

In 2005, Christensen became ceo of Herning Shipping. Herning controlled a fleet of 48 modern product and chemical carriers which operated throughout Europe, Southeast Asia, West Africa and the Americas. Christensen is the former chairman of the Danish Shipowners' Association.

Epic, headquartered in Singapore, owns and operates a fleet of fully pressurized gas carriers providing seaborne services for the transportation of liquefied petroleum gas and petrochemicals. The company's 22 vessels operate in Southeast Asia, Europe, West Africa and the Americas. [24/05/13]
