Liangyungang ties up deal with Kazakh rail firm

Shanghai: The fast growing port of Lianyungang has dramatically expanded its hinterland, signing an agreement with Kazakhstan’s national railway company to shift boxes from the Central Asian nation to Lianyungang. The port and the railway company will build a container logistics facility in Lianyungang. Boxes will then be shipped to destinations including Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia.

Lianyungang has launched a number of container railway services to Central Asia including one to Kazakh city, Almaty. Since the Lianyungang-Almaty railway service started in 2011, the line has moved 106,000 teu.  [08/10/13]
