Maersk Drilling awarded jackup contract by MOL

Maersk Drilling has been awarded a one-well exploration contract by MOL Norge for 2014-built jackup rig Maersk Interceptor.

The rig has been contracted by MOL for operations at license PL617 in the southern Norwegian North Sea, with work set to commence in August 2020. PL617 is operated by MOL Norge in partnership with Wintershall Dea and OMV Norge.

The contract is worth $16.5m and Maersk Drilling’s first with MOL.

“We are happy to be working together with MOL on this exploration campaign with exciting prospects. Our XLE rigs have an excellent track record of delivering high-efficiency drilling on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, and we expect to build on this in our first direct collaboration with MOL,” said Morten Kelstrup, COO of Maersk Drilling.
