Minerva Marine adds LR2 to growing fleet

Greece’s Minerva Marine keeps piling on modern tanker purchases in the fourth quarter, going only for popular premium priced ships with ice class A notation.

Andreas Martinos and his 57-ship strong tanker arm is getting even stronger. Sources tell Splash that Minerva has tabled just under $66m for a modern LR2, purchasing a four-year-old Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding-built 110,000 dwt long range tanker, named Hibernian Tide , from Oxley Shipping.

Sources tell Splash that this is the second same-aged LR2 purchase in weeks linking the cash-rich owner to another deal that’s also sealed privately, this one with Idan Ofer´s Eastern Pacific Shipping – adding the slightly bigger 114,200 dwt Tyrrhenian Sea. No price tag has been attached to this earlier deal however VesselsValue indicates that the market value for this ship is around $69m.
