Beijing: The anti-corruption investigations into China’s energy sector have been deepened further.
Currently the authorities are investigating PetroChina’s North American operations. The company’s chief business representative in Canada, Jia Xiaoxia is currently missing since sending a resignation letter to the company.
Jia is believed to have been taken away by authorities for investigations. Another senior executive of PetroChina’s Canada operation, Li Zhiming, has been taken into custody for corruption investigation.
Earlier this year, Wei Zhigang, general manager of PetroChina (Indonesia) and Zhang Ben, general manager of PetroChina (Iran) were arrested for corruption. [30/07/14]
