Myanmar invites tenders for Thilawa ports development

Bangkok: The Myanmar Ports Authority has announced eight construction tenders to construct a general cargo port and a container loading dock in the Thilawa Special Economic Zone. The construction is due to start this year. The ministry has received a $205m loan from Japan to develop the Thilawa port.

“We are looking for qualified international construction companies to build and quality-test purchasing equipments. In total, eight companies will be chosen,” said an official from Myanmar Ports Authority.

The ministry is currently also hiring expert advisors, inviting tenders, and preparing to construct buildings behind the port. [18/06/14]
