New York and Copenhagen-listed offshore rig owner Noble Corporation has won more work for its drillship Noble Viking offshore Malaysia.
offshore Malaysia.Sarawak Shell Berhad and Sabah Shell Petroleum have exercised three one-well options on the 2013-built rig formerly known as Maersk Viking.
One of the options will be novated to Thailand’s PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP) for the drilling of the Rotan NFE appraisal well off the coast of Sabah, set to start in December and last for about 21 days.
In direct continuation of this well, the drillship will begin the previously announced six-well drilling campaign with Shell, followed by two additionally exercised one-well options adding an estimated 90 days to the drilling campaign at the Marjoram deepwater field off the coast of Sarawak, keeping the unit occupied into the second quarter of 2025.
The total duration of the contract extension is around 111 days and is worth approximately $49m, including fees for the use of managed pressure drilling on certain wells but excluding integrated services.
