Number of cruise visitors to Myanmar jumps

Bangkok: Emblematic of the opening up of the country, Myanmar is set to welcome the most amount of cruise visits for a decade by the end of 2013, according to the Myanmar Port Authority.

In total, eight cruiseships carrying more than 4,000 tourists will have visited the Southeast Asian nation by the end of the year. In 2012, 3,100 cruise visitors came to the country.

The government is now looking at developing a large cruise terminal in Yangon.  [25/12/13]
