NYK shifts box stowage centre from Singapore

Tokyo: In a rare retrenchment of business out of Singapore back home to Japan, NYK is changing tack on its container stowage plans.

NYK and Kozo Keikaku Engineering have established a stowage planning centre for container shipping at the Kumamoto office of Kozo Keikaku Engineering in Ozu town, Kumamoto prefecture, Japan.

The task of container stowage planning will be transferred from NYK’s office in Singapore by the end of March 2015.

In recent years NYK, along with fellow Japanese lines MOL and K Line, have shifted much of their operations to Singapore to mitigate costs and be nearer international clientele.  [03/09/14]
