Oman Shipping Company in for four DSME VLCCs

South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has clinched an order for four VLCCS from Oman Shipping Company. The ships will deliver from the end of 2020 and into 2021 and are priced at $91.25m each.

Brokers tell Splash that two of these berths are Hunter Group’s ninth and tenth optional units, which it did not declare.

Oman Shipping’s contract for these VLCCs shows how quickly newbuild supertankers are appreciating in price. A year ago it was possible to order identical ships for no more than $85m.
