Performance Shipping seals move into tanker sector

Symeon Palios and Performance Shipping has sealed a move into the tanker sector, taking delivery of an aframax tanker which was part of a two-ship deal with Maersk Tankers.

Performance Shipping has taken delivery of the Maersk Jeddah, now renamed Blue Moon. The 2011-built vessel is one of two aframaxes acquired from Maersk Tankers, the other Maersk Jamnagar, for a total of $60m in June.

The acquisition adds to the company’s four container vessels, with the other aframax expected to deliver in November.
