Pertamina working to boost stockpiles

Jakarta: Pertamina is looking to stockpile gasoline amid the cheap price for oil worldwide. To this end, it has contacted fellow state owned entities to fill their unused fuel storage tanks across the archipelago.

Energy and mineral resources minister Sudirman Said wants to boost the country’s ability to stock fuel to up to 30 days, something it last achieved 10 years ago. Storage facilities in Indonesia currently can only hold stocks for consumption for about 18 days.

Pertamina has been in touch with state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, cement firm PT Semen Indonesia and tin producer PT Timah to use abandoned fuel storage tanks.
Meanwhile, Pertamina is also working on expanding a number of its own taners including two in Riau.  [19/01/15]
