Qingdao gets final approval for cruise homeport project

Dalian: Qingdao port has announced that the cruise homeport project in the city has been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) yesterday following an approval from the Ministry of Transport earlier.

Qingdao port has invested RMB800m to construct a new cruise berth to go alongside the two already in operation. The designed annual passenger capacity of the homeport is 1.5m passenger, and the project is expected to be operational in 2014.

“The cruise home portproject is a great opportunity for the transformation of Qingdao’s port economy, and it is a solid foundation of the cruise development of the city,” said an official from Qingdao Port. [27/02/13]
