Royal IHC supplies dredging package for Chinese shipyard

Shanghai: Royal IHC is to provide a new dredging installation package for a trailing suction hopper dredger being built for owner Shen Zhen Dachan Island at Jin Hai Heavy Industrial Group’s Chinese shipyard.

The package contains major parts of the dredging installation for the 7,000-m³ hopper dredger. The new vessel will be commissioned at the end of 2015.

Ton de Gruijter, general manager of IHC Tianjin, signed a contract on behalf of IHC on October 27, along with representatives of Jin Hai Heavy Industrial Group and the vessel’s owner, Shen Zhen Dachan Island.

The contract signing coincided with the visit of the Dutch trade mission, headed by HE Ms Lilianne Ploumen (the Dutch Government’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation) to Shanghai.

“The size and type of dredging equipment ordered by the customer represents the current trends in the market for long-distance discharging of up to 4km and dredging with a submerged pump to a depth of 40 m on the sea floor,” says Ton de Gruijter. [31/10/14]
