Shanghai: CSSC-affiliated Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI) has developed a new generation of design for 400,000dwt VLOCs, which will be capable of 18.8% fuel consumption savings.
The design is customised for Vale, which has teamed up with Chinese carriers China Merchants Energy Shipping and Cosco to transport iron ore to China using Valemaxes, resulting in a series of newbuild orders. [07/01/15]
