SeaBird wins more survey work

Marine seismic specialist SeaBird Exploration has penned a letter of award with an unnamed repeat client for a 2D survey in the Eastern Hemisphere and secured a contract extension for one of its vessels.

The Oslo-listed company said the new contract will kick off in the fourth quarter of 2024 pending customary permitting and prefunding approvals and that it is expected to last about three months.

Meanwhile, Seabird’s ocean bottom node (OBN) source contract, also in the Eastern Hemisphere, has been extended by about one month. The project, which started in June, is utilising the 2014-built survey vessel Eagle Explorer and is now expected to be completed in late September. As a result, the ship’s special periodic survey has been rescheduled, with downtime now expected in Q4 2023.
