Singapore: Sembcorp Marine officially opened the first phase of its huge 206-hectare yard in Tuas on Wednesday as part of overall plans to consolidate all its yards there by 2024. Phase one stretches over 73 ha and includes four VLCC-sized drydocks.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who was the guest of honour at the opening attended by 1,100 people, said the aim is to create a "shipyard of the future, which will significantly increase productivity".  [06/11/13]
