Ship takes out berth in Taiwan

Machinery failure is thought to have been the reason behind a sizeable containership prang at the port of Taichung yesterday.

The 13-year-old, 1,049 teu Asiatic Sun badly damaged its bow and a berth when coming into dock at the Taiwanese port yesterday.

The ship is now berthed and is being assessed for damages. The Singapore-flagged vessel is owned by Asiatic Lloyd.
