Shipping Corp of India eyes Singapore for LNG shipping base

Singapore: Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), the state run shipping giant, and Indian energy conglomerate GAIL are looking to form a joint venture, whereby GAIL will spend $3bn on LNG ships which SCI will then run.

SCI has already approached New Delhi seeking permission to start an overseas subsidiary in Singapore for LNG shipping to India.

SCI is currently running four LNG ships through joint venture companies with Japanese partners among others.  [06/10/14]
