Slow down, Skuld urges owners transiting Singapore

Singapore: P&I Club Skuld has sent a memo to all its members regarding the recent spate of collisions in and around Singapore waters.

Skuld has echoed the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) recent guidelines stressing the need to proceed at safe speed as a key element in collision avoidance.

“Past experience of matters attended to by the Association has shown that timely steps to appropriately adjust speed, especially in potentially uncertain circumstances with relation to other traffic, can help to avoid collisions or help to mitigate the situation,” Skuld noted.

There have been three collisions in under two weeks in the area.  [17/02/14]
