Sohar hopes 2000th vessel will lead to regional hub status

Muscat: With Sohar Port and Freezone celebrating yesterday's arrival of a record-breaking 2000th vessel to call at the Batinah port in 2014, officials are now confident the port can move from being a feeder port to a regional hub.

Executive commercial manager Edwin Lammers commented:  “Sohar has done well to build volumes across all cargo types and the diversity in our portfolio has been one of our key assets. As more ships come, cargo fees will drop and we will see Sohar transform from its role as a feeder port to a regional hub.”  [30/12/14]
