Sweden’s Ahlmark taps Royal Bodewes for pair of mini-bulker newbuilds

Swedish owner and operator Ahlmark Lines has placed an order at Dutch shipyard Royal Bodewes for the construction of two mini-bulkers.

Construction of the first vessel has already begun at one of the partner shipyards of Royal Bodewes in the Netherlands, with delivery expected in the second quarter of 2024. The second vessel will be built and delivered in the fourth quarter of 2024. 

No price has been revealed for the RB 5050 Eco Trader design pair that will sport Ice Class 1A and CLEANSHIP notations. Germany’s Rörd Braren Bereederungs will be in charge of managing the duo.

A subsidiary of O.F. Ahlmark & Co Eftr, Ahlmark Lines, has a fleet of 10 bulk carriers that mostly ship forest products to the UK.
