Swiss authorities have arrested an executive of Brazilian engineering giant Odebrecht as part of the ongoing bribes-for-inflated-contracts corruption scandal surrounding Brazil’s state oil firm Petrobras, according to Reuters.
Prosecutors in Brazil confirmed that Brazilian citizen Fernando Migliaccio da Silva was detained by the Swiss, suggesting the noose could be tightening around Odebrecht’s former CEO Marcelo Odebrecht.
The far-ranging corruption probe has roped in executives of Petrobras and several of its contractor firms in Brazil and Overseas as well as prominent politicians in Brazil.
Migliaccio da Silva had left Brazil for Europe in June after Marcelo Odebrecht had been arrested.
The Swiss Attorney General said he had entered Switzerland to close a bank account and move its assets abroad.
