Tasik seals DSV charter extension with Shelf Subsea

Singapore’s Tasik Subsea has sealed an agreement with Australia’s Shelf Subsea to extend the charter for the diving support vessel Southern Star.

The deal for the Fujian Mawei-built ship which went on a five-year bareboat charter with Shelf last year now includes further multi-year extensions.

Southern Star has been contracted with Shelf Subsea since May 2019. The vessel was made available after Fugro terminated a six-year charter for the vessel less than two years into the contract. The Dutch company was later ordered to pay $26.8m compensation to Tasik by an arbitration tribunal.

The 2017-built unit is the first vessel in the Asia Pacific region to have twin SPHLs and DP III capability.
