New York-listed Greek owner Tsakos Energy Navigation (TEN) has confirmed an acquisition of five modern tankers covered by Splash earlier this month.
The deal with an undisclosed value, which TEN intends to fund with cash on hand and bank finance, includes a pair of 2023-built LNG dual-fuel LR2s, a 2019-built “super-eco” suezmax and two scrubber-fitted aframaxes built in 2018 and 2019, respectively, the company said.
Brokers earlier named LR2s Angleviken and Askviken, suezmax Morviken and aframaxes Breiviken and Eikeviken as having been picked up by Tsakos. VesselsValue estimates the quintet as worth around $390m in total.
The ships have an average employment of two years with French energy major TotalEnergies totaling over $100m in minimum gross revenues.
TEN offloaded nine first-generation vessels in the last 12 months and recently took delivery of two LNG-powered aframax tankers, the last remaining vessels in a series of four eco-designed units. The latest transaction lifts the company’s fleet to 72 ships on a fully delivered basis and increases the LNG-powered tanker fleet to six and the number of scrubber-fitted vessels to 12.
