Brokers tell Splash that Denmark’s Torm has dipped into the secondhand market, tabling $150m for four tankers, adding the Hyundai Mipo-built 50,000 dwt Marie S, Essie Jane S, and Nancy P from Alterna Capital. All ships were delivered between 2015 and 2016.
It’s unclear if this is a pure cash purchase or cash plus stock, as previously was done between Alterna Capital and Torm.
This spring, Torm purchased three same-sized 2013-built MR tankers from Alterna Capital for around $32.3m each on the basis of 50% cash and 50% shares.
