Typhoon Utor takes down a bulker, all crew saved

Hong Kong: Helicopter rescue teams saved 21 crewmembers from a bulker that sank off Hong Kong on Wednesday after Severe Typhoon Utor caused waves of up to 15 m, Agence France Presse reported.

The crew abandoned ship as the 190 m-long bulk carrier Trans Summer sank 80 km southwest of Hong Kong, according to Hong Kong’s Flying Services.

The Hong Kong-flagged 56,824 dwt ship was built in Xiamen last year. It was owned by Xiamen firm Amoy Sailing Maritime.  [14/08/13]
