Dubai: UASC has announced two senior executive changes as it sets about creating a new operating model to support the business.
Lars Christiansen becomes chief trade officer and Uffe Ostergaard takes on the chief commercial officer role. Both men have past experience with Maersk.
“UASC is preparing for significant changes on the back of new capacity coming into service with a major program of new vessel acquisition”, said Jorn Hinge, UASC president and ceo, pictured. “We are repositioning our offering to the market, recapitalizing our business and optimizing our trades. We are structuring our executive talent so that we can leverage their exceptional professional capabilities to deliver long-term value to our shareholders”.
According to brokers ICAP Shipping United Arab Shipping Co is set to close its London office and establish a presence in Hamburg as part of a management shake-up. “The carrier is also still in discussions with shipyards for vessels between 14,000-18,000 teu and is reportedly now discussing technical details,” ICAP said. Kuwait-headquartered UASC is moving to Hamburg so that it can be closer to its customers, whilst the company will also open a new office in Istanbul to capture increasing Mediterranean business.
