Viking Supply Ships and Borealis Maritime team up to buy newbuild PSV pair

Sweden’s Viking Supply Ships, in partnership with funds managed by Borealis Maritime, have entered into a contract to acquire two platform supply vessels currently under construction at Remontowa Shipbuilding in Gdansk.

Viking Supply Ships has been awarded full operational and commercial management of the Wartsila VS 4411 DF design vessels, which are set to deliver in the fourth quarter of 2020 and first quarter of 2021.

The vessels have duel fuel capabilities to run on LNG or MGO and will also come equipped with a battery pack solution to further reduce consumption and emissions.

Viking Supply Ships said the new vessels were acquired at a significant discount compared to the original contract price and estimated newbuild prices for similar assets.
