Yangzijiang eyes 18,000 teu boxship construction

Singapore: Yangzijiang Shipbuilding is looking to follow the Korean yards in building 18,000 teu containerships. Currently, just one Chinese yard, Jiangnan Changxing, is building this class of containership.

"We want to make container ships our signature product," said Ren Yuanlin, Yangzijiang's chairman.

Yangzijiang is currently building a raft of 10,000 teu containerships, predominantly for Seaspan with the first one set to deliver next month.

The shipyard, one of China’s most scuccessful, yesterday reported a full-year net profit of RMB3.1bn.  [28/02/14]
