Zawia port blockade

Cairo: Tankers are backing up at the Libyan port of Zawia as protesters have blockaded the terminal preventing ships from loading. The government called on protesters to cease the blockade or face severe consequences. Fears of a fuel shortage in Tripoli have grown with a number of petrol stations closed today.

The blockade comes just as Tripoli had concluded negotiations to take back control of three other ports in the east of the country that had been under rebel control for more than eight months.  [13/04/14]
